Taqwa

He (Allah) is with you wherever you are." (57:4)
Taqwa (Arabic: تقوى taqwā / taqwá , "piety") is a concept in Islam that is interpreted by some Islamic scholars as god-consciousness. Taqwa is perceived from the Holy Quran in English as one being enlightened or enlightenment.

The state of hyper-vigilance against falling into sin in negligence. It is the idea that a believer is always on guard and is perpetually alert of not committing any action that would earn the displeasure of the Almighty. It is the state of preparedness of anticipating a situation where one might be coerced into doing Haram, and as a result of this readiness, to avoid and stay out of that Haram. In its higher forms, Taqwa is the fear of not of not taking the best path towards Allah's Pleasure and His Grace.

·        It is used 251 times in the Holy Qur’an as either a noun or a verb
·        Is not about performing religious obligations such as prayer and fasting: it is about living a pious life
·        That is taqwa, to protect oneself from sin through life’s dangerous journey so that one can successfully complete the journey unscathed by sin.
·        fear of God in terms of protecting oneself from displeasing God
·        Quran is Guidance for those conscious of Allah [2:2]
·        Fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous [2:183]
·        Best provision is fear of Allah. And fear Me, O you of understanding.[2:197]
·        to forego [abstain from, refrain from] it is nearer to righteousness [2:237]
·        fear Allah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims [3:102]
·        cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression [5:2]
·        fear Allah ; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.[5:2]
·        O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah , witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah ; indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do [5:8]
·        The clothing of righteousness - that is best. That is from the signs of Allah that perhaps they will remember [7:26]
·        If only the people of the cities had believed and feared Allah, We would have opened upon them blessings from the heaven and the earth; but they denied [the messengers], so We seized them for what they were earning. [7:96]
·        Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous [43:67]
·        Worldly life is only amusement and diversion. And if you believe and fear Allah, He will give you your rewards and not ask you for your properties. [47:36]
·        The most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you [49:13]

Allah (swt) said:
O mankind! Fear your Guardian Lord, Who created you from a single person [TMQ 4:1]
O you who believe! If you fear Allah, He will grant you a Criterion (to judge between right and wrong) [TMQ 16:29]
RasulAllah (saw) said on the authority of Abu Dhar (ra) and Muath Ibn Jabal (ra):
I advise you to have taqwa (be pious) to Allah in your secret and open affairs [Ahmed].
Allah (swt) strongly emphasizes the rewards of people with taqwa in this life and in the Hereafter. He (swt) said: And for those who fear Allah, He prepares a way out, And He provides for him from (sources) they never could imagine [TMQ 65:2-3]
For the Muttaqeen (pious believers) are Gardens in nearness to their Lord, with rivers flowing beneath [TMQ 3:15]
And We have sent down to you the Book as an explanation of everything, a guidance, a mercy and glad-tidings for those who submitted themselves to Islam. [TMQ 16:89]

Complete Picture
The Quran and Sunnah define the concept of taqwa as protecting oneself from the Hellfire by following the orders of Allah (swt), by doing what He (swt) has commanded and by avoiding what He (swt) has forbidden. Many ayat in the Quran point to this:
“And unto Allah belongs all that is in the Heavens and all that is on Earth. And, verily, We have recommended to the people of the Scripture before you, and to you (O Muslims) that you (all) fear Allah, and keep your duty to Him, But if you disbelieve, then unto Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth, and Allah is Ever Rich, Worthy of all praise.” [TMQ 4: 131]
In the Prophet’s (saw) last khutbah, he said:
“I ask you to fear Him (swt), listen to Him (swt), and obey.”
In another hadith narrated by Imam Ahmed (rh), when RasulAllah (saw) was asked by a sahabi “Oh Messenger of Allah, give me some advice", the Prophet (saw) responded,
“I advise you to fear Allah because it is the head of everything.”
In another occasion the Prophet (saw) replied, “Fear Allah because it is the collection of all goodness.”

Effect of Taqwa
"So establish regular Prayer and give Zakat; and obey the Messenger; that you may receive mercy" [TQM 24:56]
"And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him, and that you be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in their life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honor" [TQM 17:23]
“The answer of the Believers, when summoned to Allah and His Messenger, in order that he may judge between them, is no other than this: they say, "We hear and we obey": it is such as these that will prosper.” [TQM 26:51]
"Have you seen the one who takes his own vain desire as Ilah (god)? Allah has, knowing left him astray, and sealed his hearing and his heart (and understanding), and put a cover on his sight: Who, then, will guide him after Allah? Will ye not then receive admonition?"[TQM 45-23]
“And whoever fears Allah, and keeps his duty to Him, He will forgive his sins from him and will enlarge his reward.” [TMQ 65:5]

Rise of Islam in India

In 711, the Umayyad Caliph in Damascus sent two failed expeditions to Balochistan (an arid region on the Iranian Plateau in Southwest Asia, presently split between Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan) and Sindh.

Nature of the expeditions was punitive, and in response to raids carried out by pirates on Arab shipping, operating around Debal. The allegation was made that the King of Sindh, Raja Dahir. The third expedition was led by a 20-year-old Arabian chieftain named Muhammad bin Qasim.

Bin Qasim invaded the sub-continent at the orders of Al-Hajjaj bin Yousef, the governor of Iraq. Qasim's armies defeated Raja Dahir at what is now Hyderabad inSindh in 712. He then proceeded to subdue the lands from Karachi to Multan with an initial force of only six thousand Arabian tribesmen; thereby establishing the dominion of the Umayyad Caliphate from Lisbon in Portugal to the Indus Valley.

Qasim's stay was brief as he was soon recalled to Iraq, and the Caliphates rule in South Asia shrank to Sindh and Southern Punjab in the form of Arab states, the principal of whom were Al Mansura and Multan.

One of Dahar’s daughter’s then spoke and said: “The fact is that Muhammad Qasim was like a brother or a son to us; he never touched us, your slaves, and our chastity was safe with him. But in as much as he brought ruin on the king of Hind and Sind, desolated the kingdom of our fathers and grandfathers, and degraded us from princely rank to slavery, we have, with the intention of revenge and of bringing ruin and degradation to him in return, misrepresented the matter and spoken a false thing to your majesty against him.”

The author of the Chachnama then writes that had Muhammad Bin Qasim not lost his senses in the passion of obedience, he could have made the whole journey normally, while wrapping himself in raw leather and locking himself in a trunk only when a part of the journey remained to be covered.

Sharia :: Simple Understanding for Betterment

Shariah is the law of the Qur'an and literally means "A path to life giving water." In fact, the word Yarrah (i.e. the root of the Hebrew word Torah) means precisely the same thing. Therefore, Shariah is actually ingrained in Abrahamic tradition.

Category Injunction Actions
FARD Strictly enjoined Five daily prayers
MANDUB Advisory (positive) Performing additional prayers on Eid
JAIZ Indifferent-Permitted  Travel by land, sea or air
MAKRUH Advisory (negative) Eating some kinds of fish
HARAM Strictly prohibited Alcohol consumption

Shariah law champions absolute freedom of conscience and freedom of religion. For example, the Qur'an goes as far as to oblige Muslims to fight on behalf of Jews, Christians and people of other faiths and to protect their churches, synagogues and temples from attack. (22:41) Furthermore, Shariah holds that to be a Muslim, a person must testify to the truth of all past prophets, including Jesus, Moses, Abraham, Krishna and Buddha--and must respect their adherents. When Prophet Muhammad peacefully became the ruler of Arabia, his primary condition for non-Muslims (and Muslims) to reside in Arabia was that they allow all people of all faiths--be they Jews, Christians, Muslims or idol worshipers--to worship in peace and without oppression.

Goals of Punishment

Forms  Purpose  Options
Hadd  Deterrence; retribution; expiation  None; mandatory
Qisas  Restitution  Some; limited
Taazir  Reform; deterrence  Full discretion of judge/authority
Women in Islam are guided by primary Islamic sources of personal law, namely the Quran and hadiths, as well as secondary sources such as the ijma, qiyas, ijtihad in form such as fatwas; the secondary sources vary with various sects of Islam and schools of jurisprudence (madhhab).

1. According to Islamic law (sharia), marriage cannot be forced.
2. Muslim women may not marry non-Muslim men
3. Out of wedlock copulation is prohibited.
4. Anal sex is prohibited
5. Female infant and fetus killing is prohibited

What Quraan Says Clearly
And when he came to the water of Madyan, he found on it a group of men watering, and he found besides them two women keeping back (their flocks). He said: What is the matter with you? They said: We cannot water until the shepherds take away (their sheep) from the water, and our father is a very old man. —  [Quran 28:23]
"For men is a share from what the parents and near relatives leave, and for women is a share from what the parents and near relative leave from less from it or more, a legal share." (Al-Quran 4:7)
And those who accuse their wives and don't have witnesses except themselves then witness of each of them is four witnesses by God that he is from truthfuls. And fifth that curse of God be on him, if he is of liars. And it can save her from punishment if she witnesses four times by God that he is from liars. And fifth that wrath of God be on her, if he is from truthfuls. —  [Quran 24:6-9]
And those who accuse chaste women then do not bring four witnesses, flog them eighty strips and don't accept their testimony forever. Indeed, they themselves are disobedient. —  [Quran 24:4]
And for you is half of what your wives left, if they do not have child; and if they have child yours is one-fourth of what they left; after the will they have bequeteth or debt. And for them is one fourth of what you leave, if you do not have child; but if you have child theirs is one-eighth; after the will you have bequeteth or debt. And if the man or woman, inherited from, is Kalalah(childless) and; he has brother or sister, for each of them is one-sixth; And if they are more than it they will share one-third; after the will he bequetteth or untroubling debt. It is ordianance from God; and God is All-knowing and Allbearing.{Al-Quran 4:12}
When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned – For what crime she was killed;[Quran 81:8]
And the divorced women should keep themselves in waiting until three periods. And it is not lawful for them to conceal what God has created in their wombs, if they believe in God and last day. And their husbands have most right of taking them back during this, if they want reconciliation. And for them are like against them in recognized manner. And men are a degree above them. And God is mighty and wise. (Al-Quran 2:228)
